Shock and Awe

Thursday. Week 4. Pushing hard to meet the deadlines and have a great presentation.

With all our tech plugged in and our converters and surge protectors working there was a pop/bang as an HP power supply shorted out and managed to trip a breaker meaning we lost power to all the outlets in the room. The hotel was quick to address our problem and reset the fuse box. Now we just need to solve the HP owners power supply. Computers were shared and almost all worked furiously from 9 to 1 then broke for lunch and to change into our "go to meetin'" clothes.

Studio 393 left at 2:45 for our commute to see the client. The tube wasn't crowded but was humid. We travel north on the Northern Line, then switched trains to travel south on a different Northern Line train. We emerge at the Tottenham Court Road stop dumping us out on Oxford street. There is much construction and a loads of people as we thread our way through to get to our 4 pm meeting. The presentation went well, the client is pleased and states " This is absolutely great!" We have a mostly clear idea of what we need to do as we head into our final week on this project. The meeting ended around 5:30 and the students headed off to enjoy their evening.

The tube at this time of day is as bad as a Southern California freeway. Hot and packed. Personal bubbles are violated, there is a symphony of smells, and everyone sweats a lot. After years of teaching this course the marinating in humanity that is a summer London tube ride is still an experience that I don't enjoy.
